Our History
Professional Risk Planners, Inc. is an independent insurance agency with over 75 years of combined experience we have been serving the tri-state area since 1993, with a knowledgeable and service-oriented approach, focusing on commercial insurance and surety bonding.
Since our inception we have made it our priority to work to understand the needs of our clients so that we can offer the appropriate products to select from and provide the service clients deserve. We have founded our company upon the principals of Integrity and Service and provide our clients with an active approach to managing risk. We offer creative and unique solutions so that our client's can protect their interests.

Mission Statement
At Professional Risk Planners, Inc. we work closely with our clients, to custom tailor and design cost effective insurance programs and address the risks from which our clients are seeking to protect themselves. We help review the risks and identify the coverages that are applicable to our clients' risk profiles. We work to understand the nuances of our clients' businesses to better meet your needs now and in the future.

Executives

David R. Afanador, Chief Executive Officer-Principal

David co-founded Professional Risk Planners Inc. after working in the insurance industry since 1984 as an Insurance Company Underwriter and as Marketing Manager for an Insurance Brokerage firm. David has decades of experience in the insurance industry with vast knowledge in all phases of insurance. David attended Long Island University and has a degree in Marketing with a minor in Management. David takes pride in personally being available to all of Professional Risk Planners clients 24/7. David's commitment to keeping up to date with the changing insurance environment, insurance coverage's, quality service, leadership skills, insurance experience, professionalism, and honesty is highly recognized in the industry.

Paul DeMasi, President-Principal

Paul has been in the insurance industry since 1987. He graduated from The State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in applied Mathematics/Statistics with an emphasis in actuarial science. Paul specializes in insurance and surety bonds for commercial contractors. He also has a strong knowledge of environmental insurance for environmental remediation contractors and consultants. As owner of Professional Risk Planners, Inc. Paul takes great pride in helping his clients manage their insurance needs and provides them with the best available options in the ever-changing insurance industry.

Paul Byrne, Vice President of Insurance Sales

Paul Byrne, born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania, is a seasoned insurance professional with a passion for helping clients navigate the complexities of risk management. He embarked on his academic journey at George Washington University, where he excelled academically, graduating cum laude with a double major in Economics and Finance. Since January of 2015, Paul has been deeply immersed in the insurance industry. For the first nine years of his career, he showcased his talent by building a substantial book of business exceeding $10 million in annual premium. His expertise spans across various sectors, with a focus on the restaurant and hospitality industries, construction, long-term care, and telehealth. Paul has earned several notable designations, including Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS), Associate in Insurance (AINS), and Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI). With a blend of expertise, dedication, and a genuine passion for serving his clients, Paul is committed to delivering exceptional value and peace of mind in the dynamic world of insurance.
